Humboldt Township man taken to the hospital after home invasion, assault

HUMBOLDT — An 82-year-old Humboldt Township resident was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a reported home invasion and assault Tuesday night, according to the Michigan State Police.

The Humboldt Township man’s home was broken into and he was assaulted, with police dispatched to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect stole property from the residence before fleeing the scene, police said.

The homeowner was transported to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of his injuries.

Police said no additional information will be released at this time, as the incident remains under investigation.

Michigan State Police troopers were assisted by Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post’s K9 unit, the Marquette Crime Lab, and UPHS Emergency Medical Services.
