Music set at Peter White

MARQUETTE — The Peter White Public Library and the Marquette Area Blues Society invites music lovers to a concert by Northern Wylds at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Peter White Library’s Community Room, part of the monthly Bluesday Tuesday series.

Natalie Ray and Nick Johnson light fireworks with just three instruments: a guitar, a violin and a voice — they are the Northern Wylds, and their blues riffs, grooves and soulful, sultry windpipes bellow out roots tunes on Lake Superior’s south shore. The Northern Wylds perform both originals and covers: songs that range from heartbreak and abuse to rambling freedom; songs that remind you that life is in flux, changing like a riverbed; songs that transport you to train-hopping and whiskey guzzling; cautionary tales of melancholy and moody kinds of love, with traces of James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac among others.

There is no admission charge to attend this event which is co-sponsored by the Marquette Area Blues Society and the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the library. Call 226-4318 or visit www.pwpl.info for more information.
