Negaunee High School, along with Negaunee Middle School are two of only six public schools in the Upper Peninsula that are ENERGY STAR-certified. This designation is given to buildings and plants that meet energy performance standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Negaunee Public Schools Superintendent Dan Skewis said the district applied for the certification about seven to eight years ago and continues to obtain it annually as the district’s energy conservation allows.
