Maxime Groen and Austin Waara
IRON RIVER — Jonny and Barbara Waara announce the engagement of their son, Austin Waara, to Maxime Groen.
Austin is a 2013 graduate of West Iron County High School. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. He was recognized as an Angel Scholar. He went onto graduate from medical school at Wayne State Medical School.
Austin is now a resident at Hennepin in Emergency Medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Maxime is a graduate from Vassar High School in 2014. She graduated with a graduate degree from Central Michigan University in 2017. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree from the University of Michigan.
She has dual citizenship with the United States and the Netherlands. Her father, Hendrick Johannes Groen, is from there. Maxime’s mother lives in Monroe, Michigan.
