Reasons why video games may not be so bad for you

Some people think video games are bad for you. I am definitely not one of those people. I started playing video games in preschool and most of them were educational video games or ones where you stand up and get exercise. The first console I ever played on was a Wii. A lot of video games that involve moving around are ones on the Wii. There are a lot of games on the Wii that get you up and moving: Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Wii Fit.

I think video games can help develop a lot of skills. For example, certain games can give you better hand-eye coordination, and some video games where you get up and walk around can help with exercise. Video games can give you better reflexes. Video games can also improve your social skills and your brain speed. Gaming improves attention span especially shooting-type video games. Gaming can also improve your teamwork skills if you play with others. Playing video games can help with problem-solving skills, and gaming also enhances memory. Some games can also enhance multi-tasking skills. For example, there is a game called Fortnite where you have to do a lot of multi-tasking: you have to see where your health is at and you have to listen for other players’ footsteps, you have to pay attention to what gun you are using, you have to watch out for the eye of the storm, you have to pay attention to where you are landing and if it’s the place you want to land, you also have to watch to see if any other players are landing on the same building as you, that is unless you want to land on the same building someone else is.

I agree that kids shouldn’t play video games for, like, six hours a day. I think a few hours would be a good amount. Also, a lot of adults I know like to play video games. My parents only like me to play for about an hour of video games a day. I think I should be able to play more. My dad would probably let me play video games a lot more than my mom would. My dad plays video games a lot, so I don’t see why he wouldn’t want me playing video games. My dad lets me play video games that are violent if they aren’t really bloody, but on the other hand, my mom despises video games that have any violence at all. If it weren’t for my dad, I probably wouldn’t have the game Fortnite. By the way, if you haven’t heard of Fortnite, it is a very popular video game in the U.S.A. It is also one of those video games that has violence, but no blood. Many video games are about history and a lot are educational. Video games can simply be a lot of fun. These are the reasons why I think video games aren’t bad for you.
