PWPL announces July youth programs

MARQUETTE — Peter White Public Library has announced its youth programming for July:

Tails and Tales Virtual

Storytime: Facebook Live

Thursdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29: 9:15-9:45 a.m. Join PWPL on Facebook Live for summer Tails and Tales storytime. This storytime is great for kids of all ages. The staff will read stories, sing songs and more together. This storytime is different from Storytime in the Park. Tails and Tales Park Storytime

Tuesdays, July 6, 13, 20 and 27: 9:15 a.m. Lower Harbor Mattson Park, by the playground structure. Join in for family storytime in the park. This interactive storytime is for families with kids of all ages. Join for animal tales, songs, dancing and more. Staff asks participants to bring a family blanket(s) to sit on to help create space for social distancing. Cancelled if raining. No admission charge. Tuesday, July 6, 10 a.m. Peter White Public Library Youth Services. See what creatures kids can create with the Animal Cake Pop Kits. Complete with all the supplies needed to create this delicious and cute treat. Kits will be available for pick up, first come first served, from the Youth Services room during PWPL’s open hours. Stop by and pick up a sensory bin to take home and keep for hours of fun. For youth ages 18 months to 3 years old. First come first served while supplies last. No registration. No admission charge. LEGO Pod

Friday, July 9, 16 and 30. 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 10, 17 and 31. 10:30 a.m.-noon and 3-4:30 p.m. Peter White Public Library Lower Level. Register a small group for a LEGO Pod time slot and come build with the library LEGOS. Each Pod will be assigned a room to build, LEGOS must stay in the room. All ages, at least 1 adult must be present. Masks are required. Call the Youth Services Department, 906-226-4323 to register for a Pod. No admission charge. Wings of Fire

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 12, 13 and 14; 4:30-5:45 p.m. Thursday and Friday. July 15 and 16; 10:30-11:45 a.m. Peter White Public Library Community Room. Calling all Dragonets ages 8-14 to the land of Pyrriah for this epic Wings of Fire activity. Activities, crafts, games- all things dragon. Online registration will open July 6. Register for only one day, the program is the same each day and is offered multiple times to ensure small group sizes. Masks and social distancing are required. No admission charge. Teens Read. Take and Make

Tuesday, July 13 and 20, noon-6 p.m. Peter White Public Library Teen Zone. Stop by to pick up a Summer Take and Make kits, each kit contains six different activities ranging from art to cooking. For students in grades 6-12. Kits will be available for pick up, first come first served.

Teens Read. Dessert Wars

Tuesday, July 20, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Peter White Public Library Community Room. Time to channel an inner decorator and compete in Dessert Wars. The attendees will decorate three different desserts and have lots of fun. For students in grades 6-12. Space is limited and registration is required. Tails and Tales: Book Fair 2

Thursday-Saturday July 22-24, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. Thursday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Peter White Community Room. Kids Read. participants come and chose a second book. Remember to bring reading logs. Please attend only one day of the Book Fair, which lasts for three days to accommodate small groups and social distancing. Masks required. No admission charge. Camp Half-blood

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 26, 27 and 28 4:30-5:45 p.m.; Thursday and Friday July 29 and 30; 10:30-11:45 a.m. Peter White Public Library Community Room. Demigods ages 8-14 are encouraged to come train in the elite PWPL Camp Halfblood. Activities, crafts, and games — may the gods be ever in your favor.
