MARQUETTE — The Hiawatha Music Co-op has announced its monthly traditional music concert for March. This is part of a concert series is called Hiawatha on TAAP (Traditional Acoustic Arts Performance) and is held each month on the third Wednesday at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.

The March concert will feature the local Celtic/Irish band, The Knockabouts, from 6-8 p.m. March 18. These talented musicians are a folk music trio from Marquette who play a wide variety of traditional, contemporary and original music based in Celtic traditions. The group features Barb Rhyneer on fiddle and vocals, Tim DeMarte on bodhran and vocals and Daniel Truckey on guitar and vocals. DeMarte is a writer and Soo Bahk Do instructor and former lead singer of the Regulars. Truckey is the director of the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at NMU and also the coordinator of the Marquette Rockestra.

Looking forward, the Hiawatha Music Co-op will offer a crowd pleaser for the youth of the community with the April 15 HoTAAP for children, featuring Jeff Krebs, aka “Papa Crow” and friends in a song and dance party. The series concludes with the May 20 event with another local favorite, Dylan McKenzie Trost and the String Bandits.
