Summer Lakefront Concert Series announced

L’ANSE — Once again, a packed schedule of a good mix of music will be happening at the L’Anse Lakefront Park at 7 p.m. Thursdays starting June 27.

Special this year will be “A Day of Music” July 11, leading off at noon with the Thornapple Jazz Orchestra, a big band from the Grand Rapids area, followed by Jan Arnold, Greenstone and culminating with the evening concert by UP Gumbo.

All concerts are free, and Meadowbrook Arena is the site for inclement weather.

The schedule:

≤ July 4, Derrell Syria Project, reggae/Caribbean/fun

≤ July 11, Day of Music: noon Thornapple Jazz Orchestra; 2 p.m. Jan Arnold, country/blues/folk; 4 p.m. Greenstone, flat-picking acoustic guitars; 7 p.m. UP Gumbo, Cajun/blues/rock

≤ July 25 Rolling Thunder Band, traditional country and more

≤ Aug. 1 Keweenaw Brewgrass, bluegrass/western swing/rock

≤ Aug. 8 All Strings Considered, old-time string band

≤ Aug. 15 White Water, traditional folk and dance

≤ Aug. 22 Cathy Bolton, folk/country/light pop

≤ Aug. 29 Wil Kilpela & Friends, ethnic and old timey

≤ Sept. 5 Fiddle Pickers, Cajun/classic Country

≤ Sept. 12 Adam Carpenter/Upper Hand Band, bluegrass at its best

Everyone is invited to bring a chair or blanket and join in the fun. A free-will offering will be taken.
