Change coming to the GINCC

I moved to Ishpeming in August this year. Throughout the end of August and the month of September I was commuting back to Twin Lakes in Houghton County to finish up the sale of my Golf Course.

With open arms the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce and so many of our members welcomed me into this community.

I’ve learned so many things about this area including their traditions like the Ski Jumps, Marji Gesick Race, and the Noquemanon Ski Marathon. Preparing for these events helped me meet so many new wonderful people which whole heartedly made my transition to this area so much easier.

Now I must transition again. Although it makes me sad to leave the Chamber, I have accepted the position as the General Manager of Wawonowin Country Club in Champion.

Golf has always been a passion of mine and I am looking forward to integrating myself with others who share my love of the game.

It’s not often you get offered your dream job, so I really didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

The perk of being able to create in a commercial kitchen again also has me very excited. Over the next couple weeks while I orient myself to Wawonowin, I will be spending the mornings at the Chamber with Bob trying to help him transition into a quiet office again.

Don’t worry Bob, I’ll still hit you up with fun trivia from time to time, just to keep you on your toes. One of my favorite parts of this position at the Chamber has been the Business After Hours events that we have hosted. I hope to attend as many as my new schedule will allow so I can continue to meet all of the wonderful businesses and people this community has to offer.

I truly want to thank the Chamber Board Members and Bob for giving me this great position that I already know I will miss.

I want to thank our members that I’ve worked with for helping me learn the awesome “Go To” restaurants and shops.

This community is amazing and has the best “Small Town” feel and comradery. So although I may be closing the door on this chapter of my life, I am leaving a better and happier person because of the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce and what they do as an organization.

Editors Note: Samantha LaJeunesse is the Marketing and Events Coordinator at the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.
