Shimp receives sustainable tourism certificate

MARQUETTE — Travel Marquette’s Katie Shimp has received a Sustainable Tourism Destination Management Certificate from George Washington University.
Shimp has been at Travel Marquette for over four years where she currently serves as digital marketing manager.
Shimp came to Travel Marquette after graduating from Northern Michigan University, where she obtained a degree in English with a minor in graphic design.
A native of Marquette, Shimp enjoys bringing tourism to her home region, officials said in the announcement.
