Senior resource fairs, vaccine events to be held

MARQUETTE –Upper Peninsula Health Plan and Superior Health Quality Alliance are excited to announce a series of senior-focused resource fairs and vaccine events across Marquette County.

The events aim to connect community members aged 60 and older with valuable resources, health services, and vaccinations.

The events will take place at the following locations and times:

Monday, Sept. 23

≤ Marquette Senior Center, 300 W. Spring St., Marquette, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 24

≤ Ishpeming Senior Center, 121 Greenwood St., Ishpeming, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

≤ Negaunee Senior Center, 410 Jackson St., Negaunee, 10 a.m.-noon

Friday, Sept. 27

≤ Forsyth Senior Center, 165 N. Maple St., Gwinn, 10 a.m.-noon

These events provide a unique opportunity for seniors to access a wide range of services and support, including vaccines, health education, mobility resources, and other community-based services that promote health and well-being.

The fairs aim to serve as a one-stop shop for local seniors seeking information and assistance from community organizations.

Transportation to the events is available for UPHP members if they call UPHP transportation five business days in advance and most of the events will have a meal available for free.

“We are proud to collaborate with Superior Health Quality Alliance to bring these important events to Marquette County,” said Meagan Hanson, clinical services manager-Medicaid at UPHP. “Our goal is to support seniors by connecting them with the resources and services they need to stay healthy and independent.”
