Local artists wanted for Art Stroll

MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette is looking for local artists to showcase their artwork during Art Week for Art Stroll.

Art Week will be held June 19-24 and celebrate the local arts scene. This year will be the first time since its hiatus due to COVID that Art Stroll will return.

According to the press release, the City Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with the Marquette Downtown Development Authority, will connect local artists with businesses in the downtown area and transform the district into a vibrant art gallery.

Art Stroll will take place on June 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. During the event, artists are invited to host receptions, demonstrations, workshops or pop-up displays of their work to create an immersive and interactive experience for attendees, according to the press release.

Artwork will be displayed throughout the downtown district from Monday, June 19 until Saturday, June 24 during regular business hours of participating locations.

Artists looking to be considered for participation need to submit applications by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 5. Applications should include contact information, a brief artist statement, high-resolution image of the artwork and any other relevant details.

According to the press release, submissions are welcomed from artists of all ages and mediums and artists are able to apply with a single piece or up to a full body of work and must be family-friendly content.
