Regional spellers to advance
MARQUETTE — Students from area schools will advance to the U.P. Spelling Bee finals set for March 8 at St. John’s School in Ishpeming and Negaunee High School.
The students earned their place in the finals because of their top-two finishes in the recent Regional Spelling Bee.
The students are:
≤ Eighth grade: Isabella Jacobetti, Negaunee, first, and Sophia Redlon, Gwinn, second.
≤ Seventh grade: Zakiyyah Adebiyi, Marquette, first, and Andrew Krzymowski, Marquette, second.
≤ Sixth grade: Sarah Busscher, Marquette, first, and Catherine Henderson, Negaunee, second.
≤ Fifth grade: Rudy Orlich, Marquette, first, and Jake Rolph, Gwinn, second.
David Helwig was moderator, and Deb Asano and Chandra Ziegler were judges.
