MARQUETTE — Each Wednesday in July and August, an hour of Tai Chi will be offered in Mattson Lower Harbor Park, the West end under the shade of the trees, near the historic fire bell.

These sessions will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Tai Chi is a gentle mind/body practice that improves balance and helps regulate the immune system. It incorporates images from the natural world and involves patterned breathing.

Tai Chi is now integrated into many major medical centers across North America as part of treatment protocols.

There is no cost. These sessions are a summer gift to the community from the Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion and the environment.

Jon and Diana Magnuson serve as instructors.
