Chamber Chat: Chamber events are coming back stronger than ever this season

Bob Hendrickson, IOHT

We are well in to the planning of several events in the up-coming months and it’s been good to get back to in-person gatherings.

Our series of Business After Hours continues with the next one being held on Wednesday, May 25 at Love and Bicycles in Negaunee from 5-7 p.m. This is a full-service bicycle shop serving a wide spectrum of riders’ needs. They opened their doors for the first time in early June last year and have already become a well-established business in downtown Negaunee with more plans in the works.

The next BAH on the calendar is on Monday, June 6 hosted by Honor Credit Union at River Rock Lanes & Banquet Center. This too will be held from 5-7pm and we want to make sure people realize it’ll be held on a Monday rather than a traditional BAH evening mid-week. There will be some great door prizes given away and an enjoyable spread of food.

Looking ahead into June the GINCC will again be promoting the Annual Town-wide Rummage Sale for the West End of Marquette County. This year’s community sale will be on June 10-12.

Anyone on the West End of Marquette County can sign-up their sale to be published in a community directory for $10. The list will be shared via social media, our website and printed directories distributed at local outlets.

The directory will be sectioned into categories such as: Downtown Ishpeming, Negaunee Township, West Ishpeming, Champion, ect.

In each section, the list will contain the location of the sale, top items and the days/hours each sale will run. Participants are free to set their own hours and days. Name, phone numbers and email address will not be published. Participants are responsible for their own sale.

Check our social media or website, www.gincc.org, for more information on registration.

Our second June event will take place on Wednesday, June 15 from 5-7pm. The very popular GINCC Children’s Carnival will again be held at River Rock Lanes and Banquet Center. This backyard-style carnival is gear toward elementary age kids and is free to attend by the community.

The GINCC is currently signing up chamber members to participate in either hosting a booth or volunteering. There will be sponsorship opportunities available too. GINCC members are encourage to reach out if interested. More details will be coming soon.

To learn more about the GINCC, visit our website at www.gincc.org, give us a call or stop in. Office hours are 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. We are at times out of office on Chamber business. Please call ahead to confirm a visit, 906-486-1111.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Bob Hendrickson is the executive director of the GINCC. He currently resides in Negaunee with his wife, Laura, and daughter, Sierra. He enjoys mountain biking, skiing, fishing and hunting along with family time.
