With its headquarters in Grand Rapids and offices in Gaylord and Marquette, Comprenew is readily available to Michigan residents and businesses and adheres to the highest possible industry standards, as the only nonprofit in the world and the only electronics recycler headquartered in Michigan with both e-Stewards and R2 certifications.

It also has two stores in Grand Rapids, one in Holland, one in Gaylord and one in Marquette. In 2018, Comprenew was able to expand electronics recycling and refurbishing services throughout the Upper Peninsula by partnering with Goodwill of Northern Wisconsin & Upper Michigan. Comprenew has been able to use Goodwill NWUM’s existing infrastructure to keep cost affordable and service efficient for the community. Comprenew’s Marquette store is indeed near Goodwill’s facility at 3145 U.S. 41.

Any item with a cord or a battery can be recycled with Comprenew, besides large home appliances. Comprenew does not charge to recycle some items but must charge for others because the harvested material value can not cover the cost of proper and safe recycling. Their staff will be happy to provide an estimate over the phone based on your description of items.

Comprenew provides digital equity programs and job training to people experiencing barriers to employment and your use of its services helps to fund these programs for underserved members of the community.

When you use Comprenew’s services, you can be assured no electronic material is sent to a landfill or is incinerated. Comprenew handles materials in a National Institute of Standards and Technology of the U.S. Department of Commerce (NIST) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) compliant manner. That means all data-bearing devices are securely wiped, keeping your sensitive information private and protected.
