After you read this column, you can make an educated guess. I will rate five candy products based on size, price and average likability. Enjoy!
Twix
With Twix, there are major differences between the share size and a mini, it will completely offset the scales, so I will divide it up by the big differences.
Share size:
• Size is 3.02 ounces, which is pretty big ... not if you're actually sharing.
• Price: the average cost of a Twix share size in Marquette County is $3.28, although some stores price them as high as $4.39.
• Average likability: The average likability of a share-sized Twix bar is 8 out of 10. Some people enjoyed the caramel filling and the crunch, while others said it was TOO crunchy.
• Overall rating: 3.5/10.
Mini
• Size: It is 0.35 ounces. Tiny!
• Price: The average individual price of a Twix mini is around 24 cents in Marquette County.
• Average likability: The average score was 6/10, less than a Twix share size due to the size.
• Overall rating: 1/10.
Sour Patch Kids
• Size: Each bag weighs about 0.7 ounces, which is about as much as six M&Ms.
• Price: The average price per individual bag is 20 to 50 cents.
• Average likability: The average likability of a Sour Patch Kids packet is 5/10, which was much lower than I hoped for since I am a Sour Patch Kids fan.
• Overall rating: 4.5/10.
Nerds Gummy Clusters
• Size: An individual bag of Nerds Gummy Clusters weighs around 0.5 ounces.
• Price: Individual bags of Nerds Gummy Clusters, like the ones you would get trick-or-treating, cost about $1.47 to $2.79, depending on the distributor.
• Average likability: At 10/10, Nerds Gummy Clusters are the highest score yet. I am very thankful for this since my favorite candy is Nerds Gummy Clusters or any type of Nerds.
• Overall rating: 5/10.
Tootsie Pop
Like a Twix, there are different variations in size. Mini, Original, and Giant are the three main sizes of a Twix. A fun fact is that Purdue University did countless research on the number of licks needed to reach the center of a Tootsie Pop, and their final estimation was that it took about 252.
Mini
• Size: The approximate weight of a Tootsie Pop Mini is 0.529109 ounces, which is rounded to about 0.5 ounces for those of you who don't want to do math right now.
• Price: The price of an individual Tootsie Pop Mini is about 15 cents, but a whole bag costs around $10.
• Average likability: The average likability is around 9.5/10, so almost as high as Nerds, but Nerds still is at the top.
• Overall rating: 6/10.
Original
• Size: The weight of a Tootsie Pop Original is 0.6 ounces, so about one-tenth of an ounce bigger than the mini size.
• Price: A single Tootsie Pop Original is 35 cents, which is 20 cents more than a Mini.
• Average likability: The average likability is also 9.5/10. Both of the Tootsies were the same likability. What a thing, folks!
• Overall rating: 4/10.
Giant
• Size: At 0.86 ounces, the Tootsie Pop Giant size is about 50% larger than the original!
• Price: 40 cents is the price of an individual Tootsie Pop Giant, but if you buy a bulk bag of 72, it usually costs around $23.
• Average likability: Watch out, nerds! The Tootsie Pop Giant is now tied with Nerds Gummy Clusters at 10/10.
• Overall rating: 3.5/10.
Kit Kat
• Size: A Kit Kat weighs exactly 1.5 ounces, which is the same weight as three quarters.
• Price: A single Kit Kat costs about $1.68, but it can get up to $2 depending on the distributor.
• Average likability: Most people love Kit Kats ... I am not one of them. To me, they taste chalky and flavorless, but they still got a 9.2/10.
• Overall rating: 6/10.
