MARQUETTE — Peter White Public Library has announced its Dec. 9-23 events:

Docu Cinema Matinee: “Road Trip for Ralphie: A Christmas Story Documentary”

Friday, Dec. 9, noon-2 p.m. Peter White Public Library Shiras Room. Adults, Seniors, Family. You’ll shoot your eye out, kid. Just in time for the holidays, enjoy this documentary that goes on location and behind-the-scenes to reveal the people and places behind the perennial holiday classic. During an adventure spanning two years and two countries, two mega-fans of “A Christmas Story” set out to discover all the film’s shooting locations, uncovering forgotten facts, discover little-known locations and recovering long-lost movie memorabilia. Project Publish

Monday, Dec. 12, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Peter White Public Library Great Room. School-aged youth (third grade and up) are invited to participate in writing, illustrating and publishing their own book. O. Henry Holidays: Northwords and Music and The Gift of the Magi

Tuesday, Dec. 13, 7-8 p.m. Peter White Public Library Community Room. Adults, Seniors, Family Friendly. Join 2022 Marquette Writer of the Year B.G. Bradley and his friends as they prove there’s no place like home for holiday music, poetry, and stories, including a dramatic performance of O. Henry’s beloved classic “The Gift of the Magi.” Two-time U. P. Poet Laureate Marty Achatz and celebrated musicians Stephen Hooper (Under This Cold Sky) and Ronnie Ferguson (Streaking in Tongues) join B.G. for this special holiday treat. No admission charge. However, donations are gratefully accepted to Room at the Inn/Warming Center or Janzen House. Suggested donations: $15 per individual/$25 per household. This event will also be livestreamed. Yule Ball

Global Geeks Book Club

Monday, Dec. 19, 6- 7 p.m. Peter White Public Library Dandelion Cottage. It’s no understatement that we all live in a well-connected world, so let’s read about it. Global Geeks is the place for bookworms with an interest in global topics, issues, and ideas. In an attempt to diversify our bookshelves, we will be reading mostly literary fiction by authors from places other than the United States. Participation will be on a drop-in basis. Meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. on the third Monday of every month. Join us for some lively discussion and good company in the Dandelion Cottage room. November’s book of the month will be “Slave Old Man” by Patrick Chamoiseau.
