Korpinen, Anderson win Red Fox Senior golf

By Journal Sports Staff K.I. SAWYER — Gunnar Korpinen and Jim Anderson won the Red Fox Run 2-Man Senior Scramble golf tournament with a 5-under-par score of 66 in September. This score won the 70-and-over age division as well as the overall tournament itself. Grant Kierzek and Tim Ryan won the 50-59 division with a 2-under-par 69, while Jim Picotte and Buryl Smith took the 60-69 division with a 4-under-par 67. Warrior Relief Golf helps good cause

SAWYER — Thousands of dollars were raised for the Warrior Relief Fund through the seventh annual Warrior Relief Golf Fundraiser held at Red Fox Run Golf Course and at American Legion Post 349 of Little Lake on Aug. 25. Nearly 150 golfers participated in the outing. Top mixed team was Super One Foods with 56. In the men’s division, Right of Center won with 57, followed by Momblers Magic with 58 and Team Soyring with 59. Last place was Makelas and Sunbergs with 95. His Pasquali’s 1 team doubled up Smarties 16-8, while Eagles 2 put a 20-4 hurting on Cascade 1, Pasquali’s 2 won the civil war 18-6 over Pasquali’s 4 and Cascade 2 got by with a 15-9 win over Eagles 1. Casa Calabria A/B tennis tournament names winners, raises funds

MARQUETTE — Five doubles pairings won tennis titles at the 26th annual Casa Calabria A/B Tournament held during the summer. The event was a fundraiser by the Marquette Tennis Association to raise funds for improvements to the Mickey Johnson Tennis Courts at Williams Park on Ohio Street in Marquette. They include work on the courts themselves, the basketball courts and an American with Disabilities Act path to the playground area.
