To the Journal editor: As an independent voter, the policies of both the Republican and Democratic candidates for president are very important to me. In the past, I have voted for members of both political parties for president. In the coming election, there are policies on both sides that I am not in favor of. To the Journal editor: Because of my friend Tom Izzo, I had the honor and privilege to serve as honorary coach for Michigan State University in the Superior Dome showdown with Northern Michigan University. So many friends, family and former players of mine reached out to me through phone calls, text messages, emails, Facebook and face-to-face to tell me how happy they were for me. To the Journal editor: Our democracy and our rights are at stake in this election. Your vote is your voice determining the future of our country. Women’s rights are in jeopardy. The protection our Michigan Legislature put in our Michigan Constitution at the direction of Michigan voters would be trumped by federal legislation banning contraception and abortion.
