Prosecutor, court did right thing

To the Journal editor: I am not an attorney, nor am I a para-legal. I am a parent. I write to commend our prosecuting attorney and the court. Recently, a convicted child-porn and child abuser asked the court to review his punishment. His point was that no testimony concerning psychological harm done to the child was presented “in evidence.” As a parent, I would not want my child to have confront the abuser in an open court room. To The Journal editor: It is that time of year again, the Lake Superior Detachment 764 will be running its 2024 Toys For Tots Campaign in Marquette County. There are over 90 donation boxes throughout Marquette County. If you are not a shopper but wish to donate, you can go on the toysfortots.org website (find Michigan-Marquette County and ways to donate). Also on the website is a list of all the businesses that have donation boxes. Please help our less fortunate children and families in Marquette County by donating. To the Journal editor: I wish to acknowledge the work of the Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee. These volunteers who make sure we have gorgeous flowers along the roadside and at the round-a-bout, deserve our thanks and support. Over the last 37 years, over a half million dollars and more than 5,000 volunteers have transformed the South Front Street corridor into a vibrant, welcoming entrance to our city. To the Journal editor: With the recent hurricane in Florida and the other southeastern states, a lot of damage and lives were lost. Also, tornadoes in the Midwest and the hot weather in a lot of the southern states. “Climate change is real” so I will go through our four seasons. Now it is the fall season. Numbers don’t lie

To the Journal editor: Think of this, 63 million babies have been aborted since 1973. If they had lived they would be paying into our system, we would not be in the financial difficulties we are in today. Our children will be burdened with unnecessary taxes all because of the aborted babies. No one ever mentions this! A pregnant woman could carry a child and give it up for adoption. What an unselfish and loving gift that would be to a woman that cannot conceive and there are many. Think of this!
