Wisconsin warnings helpful for Michigan motorists too

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles has launched a new website to help alert and educate consumers about scammers posing as the DMV and demanding payment or requesting personal information. And while officially tied to Wisconsin — Michigan doesn’t have a DMV — much of what is posted on the new site still is good advice for handling scams in this state. Two paddleboarders drifting far from shore on Lake Superior were recently rescued with quick action by two Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers in Ontonagon County.
