By Journal Staff LANSING — If you spent any time on the water last year, chances are you saw Michigan Department of Natural Resources fisheries management units busily completing more than 270 fisheries surveys across the state. Specifically, crews completed 172 surveys of Michigan’s inland lakes and 99 surveys of Michigan’s streams, the DNR said in a news release. The surveys are useful for tracking inland fisheries populations, evaluating stocking efforts to increase angler opportunities, or addressing concerns from anglers throughout the year. DETROIT (AP) — A 55-year-old man has been charged with shooting two Michigan State Police troopers inside a Detroit home. Andre Hardaway of Detroit was arraigned Wednesday on assault with intent to murder and gun charges, the Wayne County prosecutor’s office said. Members of a state police emergency support team and Detroit police officers were at a home Friday when the troopers were shot. DETROIT (AP) — Wayne State University in Detroit will provide free tuition to incoming in-state students with family incomes of $70,000 or less and assets of $50,000 or less. The Wayne State Guarantee was announced Monday.
