US probes crash involving Tesla that hit student

DETROIT (AP) — U.S. road safety regulators have sent a team to investigate a crash involving a Tesla that may have been operating on a partially automated driving system when it struck a student who had just exited a school bus. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Friday that it will probe the March 15 crash in Halifax County, North Carolina, that injured a 17-year-old student. National Weather Service: Spring melt could lead to floods

By Journal Staff MARQUETTE — The National Weather Service’s Marquette office issued a hydrologic outlook on Friday, advising of possible flooding next week. The outlook states: “Much warmer temperatures will lead to a melting snowpack and possible flooding next week. Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected through next week resulting in substantial melting of Upper Michigan’s above -normal snowpack. Tesla cuts prices on all models, 3rd cut this year

DETROIT (AP) — Tesla cut prices on its entire U.S. electric vehicle model lineup for the third time this year in an apparent effort to lure more buyers amid rising interest rates. The largest of the cuts that appeared Friday on Tesla’s website were $5,000 per vehicle for the company’s slower-selling more expensive models, the S large sedan and the X big SUV. DETROIT (AP) — A 27-year-old man accused of buying a gun used in the fatal shooting of a Detroit police officer was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison, federal prosecutors said. Sheldon Avery Thomas, 27, of Detroit pleaded guilty in December to making a false statement in buying the weapon that was used to kill Officer Loren Courts, 40, during a July ambush on Detroit’s west side.
