Manninen, Hauswirth win U.P. Best Ball

MARQUETTE -- Former Michigan Tech hockey teammates Kevin Manninen of Ishpeming and Mike Hauswirth of Hancock shot 69 on the final day to win the championship flight of the Upper Peninsula Golf Associations' Best Ball tournament held at the Marquette Golf Club in July.

The winners, who shot 66 on the first day of the two-day event at the club's Greywalls course, came from three strokes behind to pass a pair of duos in their win. Kurt Ghiardi and Joe Negernelli shot 63 on the first day, while Bob Luke Jr. and Jon Kamps opened with 65.
