Body found near Lower Harbor ID’d as male

MARQUETTE — The body discovered Friday morning about 200 yards south of Marquette’s Lower Harbor ore dock has been identified as a male, according to the Marquette Police Department.

Police responded to a call of a body in Lake Superior at about 9:03 a.m. Friday. Upon arrival, police located the body of the unidentified male subject near shore.

Personnel from the MPD and the Marquette Fire Department recovered the body and continued to investigate, searching the nearby area. Police were assisted by EMS personnel from UP Health System-Marquette.

No further information was available as of press time Friday night.
