Man dies after Mackinac Bridge motorcycle crash

ST. IGNACE — A 57-year-old Macomb County man has passed away after a motorcycle crash on the Mackinac Bridge Tuesday night.

Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post troopers were dispatched around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday to the scene of the crash, which involved a single motorcycle and its driver, Charles Chronowski. Chronowski was transported to the Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates Chronowski lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, police said. He was not not wearing a helmet at the time.

No additional details are being released at this time, police said this morning.

Troopers were assisted by the St. Ignace Police Department, the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department, the Sault Tribal Police Department, Straits EMS, St. Ignace Fire Department and the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
