Fire battled at Pine Ridge Apartments
Multiple agencies respond to emergency
MARQUETTE — The residents of the Pine Ridge Apartments in Marquette were evacuated Tuesday after a fire was reported at the top of the building.
There were no apparent injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Firefighters could be seen on the roof of the nine-story building spraying water and foam onto the blaze, which seemed to be confined to a single area.
Officials from the Marquette Housing Commission, the administrator for the 140-apartment structure, worked to ensure that all the residents were accounted for and safe. Marq-Tran assisted to transport some residents to the Superior Dome temporarily until it is determined they can safely return home.
The incident was reported at about 12:30 p.m., with multiple agencies responding including the Marquette Police Department, the Marquette Fire Department, the Marquette Township Fire Department, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police, the Chocolay Township Fire Department and the Salvation Army.
This story is developing and more information can be found in Wednesday’s Mining Journal.
