Brian Sinotte

MARQUETTE – UP Health System today announced that Brian Sinotte, market president of UPHS and CEO of UPHS-Marquette, will step down from his role, effective June 21. Sinotte, who has been with UPHS since 2016, will be relocating with his wife, Dr. Jessica Haloskie, to Chicago, where he has accepted a new position. An interim replacement will be named soon and a national search for a permanent leader has been initiated.

“The decision to leave my role at UPHS was a very difficult one, but the right one for Jessica and me right now,” said Sinotte. “I am honored to have been part of UPHS and the Upper Peninsula for the last three years. Across this region, UPHS has a wonderful team of dedicated employees, physicians and volunteers with a genuine commitment to advancing the health of their communities. I am proud to have been able to call myself one of them and confident that they will continue to flourish and thrive long after my departure.”

Sinotte has served as CEO of UP Health System-Marquette since August 2016 and market president of UP Health System since February 2018. Prior to these roles, he was CEO of Maria Parham Medical Center (MPMC), a Duke LifePoint Healthcare facility in Henderson, North Carolina. Before MPMC, Sinotte served as CEO of MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, Illinois. He also has held numerous leadership positions at hospitals in Indiana, Minnesota and Virginia.

“Brian’s departure is a bittersweet one,” said John Bartlett, MD, chair of the UPHS Board of Trustees. “We are pleased to see him make the right decision for his family, but disappointed to lose a great leader. Our board looks forward to working with LifePoint Health and Duke LifePoint on the search for the best executive to fill Brian’s shoes and ensure the success of UPHS for generations to come.”

Sinotte will remain with UPHS, which has facilities in Marquette, Ishpeming and Hancock, through UPHS-Marquette’s move into its new hospital facility – which will occur on June 2 – and ensure a smooth transition to an interim leader in the weeks following.
