MARQUETTE — Anytime Fitness of Marquette is teaming up with Camp Star to help children of the community understand grief while getting fit.

No membership is needed to participate and donate to the cause, but discounted membership prices are available if you donate a water bottle the gym is collecting on behalf of Camp Star. To learn more, visit Anytime Fitness of Marquette at 1175 W. Washington St.

Water bottles will be collected through Wednesday. That day, at 7 p.m., Anytime Fitness staffers will host a team training workout. No membership is required, but there is a $5 participation fee, with proceeds going to Camp Star.

Camp Star, a weekend long camp for children ages 8-17, provides grieving children who have lost a loved one with a safe environment, giving them a support system to share similar experiences, learn together and to help them understand that they are not alone.

The children will experience traditional camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support. The camps also offers “Best Days” where the volunteers of Camp Star take the kids out on the town to do different activities, from going to the YMCA to play, or renting out the Thomas Theatre to see a movie.
