1 injured in 3-vehicle crash in Chocolay Township

MARQUETTE — One person was transported to UP Health System-Marquette’s emergency department for treatment of non-life threatening injuries after a three-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. 41 near Surrey Lane in Chocolay Township around 7 a.m. today, according to police.

According to the Chocolay Township Police Department, a northbound vehicle equipped with a plow crossed the center line of U.S. 41 and struck a southbound vehicle, which caused the driver of the southbound vehicle to lose control. The southbound vehicle then entered the northbound lane of U.S. 41, colliding with a third vehicle that was northbound.

The driver of the third vehicle was transported to UPHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said weather conditions are believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, as the roads “were snow-covered.” No citations were issued.

Officers were assisted by Chocolay Township Fire and Rescue and UPHS EMS at the scene, according to police.
