MANISTIQUE — The Manistique Emeralds picked up a victory for homecoming on Friday, taking down Munising 29-7 in a West PAC Iron Division contest.
The Emeralds (2-4) got another big performance from Schyler Andersen, who accounted for all four of their touchdowns.
“Running and throwing, he’s done a fantastic job with all we’ve asked him to do,” Emeralds’ coach Todd Kangas said. “We try to get him involved in everything we do, and he makes everyone else a little bit better.”
Andersen got the scoring started on an 11-yard run with eight minutes left in the first half, and a successful point-after attempt by Jude Way made it 7-0. After Munising responded on a 35-yard TD run two minutes later to tie it 7-7, Andersen scored again with two minutes left until halftime to put Manistique up 13-7 entering the break.
The Emeralds then took the second half kickoff and drove the ball down the field, finishing the drive on a two-yard TD run by Andersen.
Andersen finished the scoring on a seven-yard TD pass to Tony Williams with 11 minutes left.
Manistique visits Bark River-Harris on Friday.
