ESCANABA — The Westwood wrestling team finished in third place out of 15 teams at the Escanaba Elks Tournament Saturday.

Sam Gilles (215 lbs.) and Wyatt Carlson (119) both took first place in their respective weight classes, while Joseph Derocha took second at 112, Rocco Carlson finished third at 160, Connor Traver took fourth at 135 and Christian Ryan finished fifth at 103.

“Going into a tournament like this, it’s always nice to come out being the highest Division 4 placing team,” Patriots head coach Dan Carlson said. “We had our experienced wrestlers do well and our not so experienced wrestlers stepped it up too.”

Westwood hosts the Marquette County Meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
