RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River boys continued to dominate their own track invitational Thursday, winning for at least the third straight time with 175 points.

Munising edged Stephenson 68-66 for the runner-up spot. Superior Central did not score in the meet.

The Mustangs won two events, Matthew Revord clearing 11-feet in the pole vault and the school’s 400-yard relay team also winning, though names of the victorious quartet weren’t available.

The North Dickinson girls retained their title with 99 points, followed by Mid Peninsula with 86.

Munising scored 26 points to finish eighth while SC had 17 and was ninth.

SC had the area’s only win in the girls meet as Danika Walters took the 1,600 in 5:55.9.

Masyn Alexa won the 200 in a school-record 27.13 seconds, shaving five-hundredths of a second off the record held by her mother, Chasity Alexa, that was set in 1991.

“I just wanted to get one of her records,” Masyn said. “I think she might be more excited than I am. She has been waiting for this.”

Rapid River senior Lucas Sundling set a school record in the boys’ 100 (11.23), topping the 41-year-old mark by Paul Thibault (10.9).
