MARQUETTE — It’s impossible for every local nominee to earn a spot on the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association teams.

There’s just too many players and not enough spots. However, the ones that didn’t make it still got acknowledged by the group at its annual meeting Wednesday and were named to the Honorable Mention lists.

On the Small School list were Gwinn center Eddie Chapman and defensive end Daniel Johnson, Munising defensive back Alec Blank, Ishpeming defensive back Aaron Corkin and Newberry running back Jaylen James.

The central U.P. was also represented on the Eight-Player list as Superior Central quarterback Beau Rondeau, linebacker Wade Krysiak and return specialist Roubens Fink earned honors. Fink also made the Eight-Player First Team as a running back.
