Ice-cold Indians fall to Pickford

By Journal Sports Staff

NEWBERRY — Some cold shooting and turnovers plagued the Newberry Indians Saturday afternoon as they fell to Pickford 46-36.

Taylor Bryant led the Indians with 21 points and 13 rebounds to earn a double-double.

Newberry led 11-10 after the first quarter, but fell behind 25-21 at the half. The Indians (7-4) then struggled to get any offense going in the second half and couldn’t complete a late comeback.

“We just couldn’t shoot tonight,” Newberry head coach Fred Bryant said. “They were double-teaming Taylor and we couldn’t catch the ball or make easy shots. We played hard the entire game, but couldn’t do much on offense.”

Newberry did win the JV game 38-24. The Indians host Cedarville Tuesday.
