Munising’s Webber wins girls race

MARINETTE, Wisconsin – Munising’s Alyssa Webber beat the field by nearly 30 seconds to win the girls individual title at the Border Battle high school cross country held Tuesday at Marinette High School.

Webber clocked 20 minutes, 25 seconds on the 3.1-mile course to beat out runner Kim Carviou of Marinette’s 20:52. The meet featured 13 schools from Michigan and Wisconsin.

The Mustangs finished fifth in the girls team standings with 98 points. Marinette won with 49, followed by Menominee with 61.

Munising was sixth in the boys race with 139 points though the Mustangs didn’t have a runner who finished in the top 10. Escanaba won with 68 points.
