NHS gymnasts cruise

ESCANABA – The Negaunee High School gymnastics team scored 123.6 points to capture top honors at the Escanaba Elks Invitational on Wednesday night.

Esky finished with 115 and Marquette had 70.3.

Negaunee’s Kylar Kallioinen earned top all-around honors with 31.3 points, followed by teammates Kalli Mattson with 30.0 and Skylar Taavola with 29.4.

Kallioinen won floor exercise with 8.4 and Lexi Caya took first on the bars with 8.1 for the Miners, who swept all five places in the latter event. Esky got a first from Karlie Ohman, who recorded an 8.5 on beam.
