Taking control

ISHPEMING – The Norway Knights took control of the match in the third set and were able to sweep Westwood on the road Thursday.

The Knights defeated the Patriots 25-17, 25-16, 25-9. Ashley Enos led Westwood with five kills and three blocks before leaving with a shoulder injury, while Lilianna Briggs had seven digs and Samantha Beauchamp had three assists.

“Losing Ashley really hurt us,” Westwood head coach Janine Chapman said. “She was playing well and when she got hurt, things went downhill for us. We also made some mistakes and offensively, we couldn’t get our hits to fall. Norway is a scrappy team and they showed it tonight.”

The Patriots will participate in the WIN Meet Tuesday at Ishpeming against the host Hematites and Negaunee.
