NMU men lose another 1-0 decision

MARQUETTE — Goalkeeper Patrick Restum made three saves while allowing just one goal but it wasn’t enough as the Northern Michigan University men’s soccer team fell to Northwood 1-0 at the NMU Soccer Field on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats (3-6, 2-3 GLIAC) are on a three-game losing streak, all conference games and each decided by a 1-0 score.

On Friday, NMU outshot the Timberwolves 9-8, with senior Luca Lippert, junior Vegard Ervall and freshman Ryan Palmbaum getting off two shots apiece. Lippert also had two of his team’s four shots on goal.

Northwood (5-3-1, 3-2) scored the day’s only goal when Jared Suddon knocked in a shot unassisted more than halfway through the second half in the game’s 76th minute.

Northern remains home to host Saginaw Valley State at noon Sunday. Like Northwood, the Cardinals are 5-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC. SVSU lost at Wisconsin-Parkside 2-0 on Friday.
