ALLENDALE — The Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team had an impressive day Saturday at the Al Owens Classic.

The Wildcats set three school records and earned two NCAA provisional marks as they head into the final stretch of the season.

Former Marquette Redette Izzie Peterson broke two of those records and earned both of the provisional marks after winning the 200 meter dash (24.13) and finishing second in the 100 dash (11.76).

The other NMU record fell in the 4X400 relay when the team of former Redette Shayla Huebner, Sydney McPeters, Lynsey Collins and Paige Dutcher finished with a time of 3:48.80 to win the race.

Northern also performed well in the 4X100 relay as Peterson, McPeters, Jenna Long and Lauren Alarie lifted the Wildcats to a second place finish.

The other NMU winners were Michelle Juergen in the high jump (5-5.75) and Katelyn Smith in the 5,000 run (18:20.76). Juergen also took third in both the long jump and the triple jump.

Other strong performances for the Wildcats included Dutcher, who finished second in the 400 dash and Huebner, who came in second in the 800 run. Megan Martin finished third in the 400 hurdles and Hanna Torvi took fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase.

NMU will compete in the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College April 26-27 and then head to the GLIAC Outdoor Championships May 1-3 at Grand Valley State.
