BROOKFIELD, Ill. — Running back Jake Mayon’s football career at Northern Michigan University is over, but he continues to rake in awards.

On Friday, Mayon was named to the Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Three First Team Offense squad.

Mayon broke two school records last season and led the GLIAC in rushing as well. He was the first Wildcat to ever rush for 1,500 yards in a season and set the NMU season record with 1,505. That total also placed him sixth overall in Division II.

The other record Mayon set was the Wildcats’ career rushing mark, which he broke in a loss to Michigan Tech. Mayon ended his career at Northern with 4,220 yards.

Not only that, but Mayon averaged 136.8 yards per game and ran for more than 200 yards in two games. He also had three more games where he rushed for more than 170 yards.

Mayon was named GLIAC Offensive Back of the Year and made the All-GLIAC First Team for the second year in a row.
