NMU women top NAIA foe Jamestown

By Journal Sports Staff

ST. PAUL, Minn. — After getting dealt a close loss by Concordia St. Paul Friday, the Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team bounced back Saturday as it defeated NAIA foe Jamestown (N.D.) 54-45 to close out the Radisson Hotel Classic.

Jessica Schultz led the Wildcats (5-2) with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Lexi Smith had 10 points.

The story of the game was defense as the Wildcats held the Jimmies to just 23.9 percent shooting from the field and 26.2 percent from beyond the arc. NMU also stayed out of foul trouble, only giving Jamestown four chances at the charity stripe.

The Wildcats start GLIAC play this week as they travel to Northwood Thursday and then Saginaw Valley State on Saturday.
