GREENVILLE, S.C. – A former Northern Michigan University skater has inked a pro contract.

Forward John Siemer agreed to terms with the Greenville (S.C.) Swamp Rabbits, an ECHL team affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers.

During his three seasons with the Wildcats, Siemer tallied 16 goals and 43 points. His best season came during his freshman year (2013-14) where he has seven goals and 18 points.

The Swamp Rabbits open their season Oct. 14 on the road against the Florida Everblades. NMU will have an exhibition game Oct. 2 against the University of Victoria and will open its regular season Oct. 7-8 against Wisconsin in Green Bay.
