13 Wildcats earn GLIAC all-academic honors

BAY CITY – Several Northern Michigan University athletes were honored with spots on the Spring GLIAC All-Academic Excellence and All-Academic Teams.

Four members of the NMU men’s golf team and nine women’s track and field members earned slots with eight named to the All-Academic Excellence Team.

All-Academic Excellence award winners were Wildcat golfer Emil Lundgren along with seven track and field athletes including Menominee native Kameron Burmeister. The other women were Kieren Becker, Jaylee Brown, Xavier Donajkowski, Shannon Flynn, Ine Mylle and Catherine Swiderski.

All-Academic members included three golfers and two track and field athletes. The golfers were Marquette native Alex Palmer, Austin Elsner and Hunter Mires, while the athletes were Negaunee graduate Clara Churchill and Danielle Brzezinski.

To be eligible for the two award, a student-athlete has to be on the active roster at the end of the season and can not be a freshman or first-year transfer. Spots on both teams were based on cumulative GPA. The All-Academic Team requires a GPA between 3.0-3.49, while the All-Academic Excellence team requires between 3.5-4.0.
