NMU’s Martin finishes 10th

MARQUETTE – Junior Adam Martin of the Northern Michigan University Nordic ski team raced to his second top-10 finish in as many days on Tuesday at the U.S. Long Distance National Championships at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Craftsbury, Vermont.

Martin reached the semifinal round in the 1.5-kilometer sprint in 10th place, though times weren’t available. He was one of five collegiate skiers to place in the top 10.

NMU’s Felicia Gesior also made the semifinal round, finishing 11th. She was one of only two collegiate skiers to place in the top 15 and advance to the semifinal round.

“We don’t focus on these sprint events too much as they’re not in the NCAA championships, so this was a good result,” Northern head coach Sten Fjeldheim said.

Wildcats Jake Brown (42nd), Krystof Kopal (48th) and Sam Elfstrom (54th) rounded out the Wildcat finishers.

Racing continues today with mixed relay events.
