NMU women face Tech

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s women’s basketball team will be looking for a key win Thursday afternoon in its final regular season contest.

Coach Troy Mattson’s Wildcats (13-14 overall, 12-9 GLIAC) will take on Michigan Tech University at 5:30 p.m. in Houghton.

NMU, which has clinched a conference tournament berth, will try to sweep the season series between the two schools. Northern beat the Huskies 71-69 on Feb. 1 at the Berry Events Center.

Junior Bre Gaspervich leads the Wildcats in scoring with a 12.7 point-per-game average. Freshman center Taylor Hodell is averaging 9.5 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds.

Tech (18-7, 16-5) is led by four players averaging double figures scoring-wise: Danielle Blake (14.0), Kylie Moxley (13.9), Kelli Guy (12.3) and Morgan Anderson (10.7).

Northern leads the all-time series 51-41.
