NMU lacrosse hires ass’t coach

MARQUETTE – With its first season coming up in just over a year, Northern Michigan University has hired an assistant coach for its women’s lacrosse team.

Ashley Glenn has been hired to work with head coach Emilia Ward, the university announced Monday, with the team’s first season beginning in the spring of 2017.

Glenn played the sport collegiately downstate for NCAA Division III Albion College, earning U.S. Lacrosse first team All-American honors, Academic All-American accolades and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association all-conference distinction during her career.

Glenn also set multiple records for the Britons, including career points, career goals, season goals and single-game goals. She was named Albion’s Junior Female Athlete of the year in 2014.

Heavily involved in service at Albion, Glenn served as an operations coordinator on an Appalachia service project in the summer of 2013.

She also worked in 2015 as a sales and marketing representative for 2313 Inc., a business management consulting firm.

Glenn graduated from Albion with a bachelor’s degree in biology in May.

The NMU Board of Trustees voted in September 2014 to add women’s lacrosse to its sports lineup, along with men’s swimming and diving, women’s golf and men’s soccer.
