Wildcat women hitting road

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s women’s basketball team will look to continue its mastery of both Lake Superior State and Northwood beginning tonight.

Coach Troy Mattson’s Wildcats (7-11 overall, 6-6 GLIAC) will play LSSU at 5:30 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie. NMU has won four of its last five games against the Lakers.

Bre Gaspervich leads NMU in scoring with 10.8 points per game. Teammate Taylor Hodell is averaging 8.9 points and 6.9 rebounds.

LSSU (4-14, 3-9) features Mackenzie Edwards, who’s scoring at a 12.4 clip. Tamara Novic has come off the bench to average 10.4 points.

NMU will play at Northwood (10-8, 6-6) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Timberwolves’ Jordyn Nurenburg is averaging a double-double with 17 points and 10.6 rebounds. Teammate Lauren Robak is adding 15.6 points per game.
