Wildcat earns All-American mention

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s Madison Whitehead has become the first Wildcat to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American accolades since 2007.

Whitehead made the honorable mention list.

“She is very deserving of it given all that she accomplished this season,” NMU head coach Dominic Yoder said in a news release.

Whitehead also made the American Volleyball Coaches Association all-Midwest honorable mention team after helping the Wildcats build a 21-10 record.

She led NMU in every major offensive category, posting 351 kills – an average of three per set – and a .333 hitting percentage.

In GLIAC matches, she averaged 3.27 kills per set and recorded a .340 hitting percentage, good for sixth and fourth in the league, respectively.

This fall, Whitehead was twice named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week.
